Marmo, an ultra-modern editorial project, was shot in the Carrara Marble Caves in October 2020. Stefano Santucci and Alice Bracciali started planning the project in May 2020, months before the shoot finally took place. During this unusual year, the creators had no opportunity to express their vision through their normal work, so instead, they focused single-mindedly on this creative shoot. It took a lot of energy and dedication to fit all the elements of this complex and structured project together to achieve the perfect balance.
The word Marmo means Marble, and Carrara is the most famous site in Italy where you can find this natural element in abundance. These rocks took 190 million years to form into what we see today. The location of the shoot took authors to the very same quarries from which Michelangelo chose the best blocks to create his masterpiece "David", and where Canova selected his marble for "The Three Graces". Many of the world's greatest artists walked on these mountains. The Carrara quarries suited Stefano's vision perfectly, representing love through the ages: prehistoric, contemporary, futuristic, classical.
